Building a Balance Sheet
Crestpoint Trading โ Balance Sheet
Crestpoint Trading Inc.
Cash in hand isn't revenue until you've delivered.
Cash today, revenue later
Crestpoint Trading Inc. runs through the same five-transaction skeleton as the other trading exercises, then adds a sixth: cash received in advance from a customer for goods that haven't shipped yet. That cash is real, but it isn't revenue โ it's booked as Unearned Revenue, a liability, until the goods actually go out the door.
Each numbered transaction is first recorded as a journal entry: a debit to whichever account increases, and a credit to whichever account increases on the other side โ always two sides, always equal.
